HI all!!!!

This week was a really good, we both worked hard and we found a lot of success this week!

We were able to meet with our new investigator, she is a dancer and an artist and she believes everything that we say, she says that she feels the spirit when we talk to her about the restoration.  She was able to come to a baptism with us, and then to church! It was so great! She is really lonely. Her husband passed away a few years ago and she recently lost her house, this is the perfect time for her to accept the gospel!

We taught the kids the Word of Wisdom lesson, it was all going good until we found out that that the 11 year old is a big coffee drinker, that was a big shock to us!  I guess that he has severe lung issues and coffee helps him breath.  He said that he will stop, he wants to follow ALL the commandments.

We met with our committed investigator almost every day to prepare her for baptism. It was really great! She was so excited, she passed the baptismal interview and she bore us her testimony after! It has been truly amazing to watch her progress in just 6 weeks she is truly the elect and I’m so grateful that I got to see it before I left.  Her baptismal service was super spiritual! My favorite part was getting a big wet hug right after she was baptized!   It was amazing!  She was so happy she could barely contain it! I had the opportunity to bare my testimony and feel the spirit so strongly! BEST MOMENT OF MY MISSION SO FAR, THE LORD IS SO GOOD!

This week we were able to connect with a less active family that we have been trying to connect for the whole transfer. They finally let us in! It turns out that the father wants his 7 year old daughter to take the lessons! They are the cutest family in the whole universe!!!  The dad is such a good dad even though he is not interested at all in coming back to church he supports his children, its great!

Well this chapter on Agoura hills is closed! It has been a really good 6 months!!! I have seen so many miracles, I have seen people get baptized and I have watched an area completely change!!!! I’m going to miss this place a lot…but the lord wants me to work in Westlake so that, I will do! I’m going to miss Sister Hiatt, we got along super well and did extremely good work!!!

I can’t believe I am almost to my ½ way mark, it scares me to death! It’s been a blast here in Agoura Hills!!!

I will miss the people, but it’s time for me to go 

Third week in February

Hi everyone-

Sister Hiatt and I had a trial this week that definitely put our faith to the test.  We had set a companion goal to stay positive and we were definitely tried this week.

This week was also trying for a lot of people.  Our male investigator who so badly wanted to be baptized did not pass his interview.  It wasn't, just knowing that I would not get to see a baptism, it was watching his face when he found out we had to postpone.  We met with him and talked to him on the phone.  He has decided to take the positive outlook and not get mad at anybody and just work on himself, so that one day he can be baptized.  He did bring a friend to church on Sunday, and wants him to take the lessons.   He is really moving this work forward!

Mindy is going to be baptized this Sunday, if all goes well with the interview on Tuesday!  She has been amazing to watch.  I love watching the progress of really golden people, and I know the lord prepares them and they are amazing! I’m really excited mostly because she is so excited! I just love seeing someone truly prepared to enter the waters of baptism it has been an amazing journey with her! The lessons we have been teaching her have been great! She agrees with, and seems to understand everything we say, she keeps commitments.  She honestly believes and knows that this is the true church! She had a dream, and when she woke up she just felt this overwhelming feeling that she was doing the right thing, that this was the right church for her and her daughters, and that she should get baptized! It was great to hear her say all of these things! We had a little bit of an issue with her daughter who also wants to be baptized, but we had no idea that we had to get the fathers permission until this week.  We found out that he lives in Vermont; he is a maple syrup farmer and is there until July. We got it all sorted out. It was very scary for a second because her mom got stressed; she was worried that the dad would say no in spite of her!  We were so glad that it all worked out!

We are teaching this sweet older woman, she lost her husband 5 years ago.  She broke her hip a year ago, she is a drinker, but she desperately wants to quit.   We are working with her; she has decided to be baptized at the end of March.  We just need to work with her and help build her faith. She says she knows the book of Mormon is true, and she loves the story of the restoration, she is very lonely.  She said that she is ready to start working on herself.  She told us that she has been baptized multiple times into many different churches.  She says she just can’t seem to find a church that she feels like is true, until now.  This is the first time that she feels like this is something that she wants; she is feeling that this is the true church!

I have said this before, but this area has changed so much!  I know that being obedient and working hard, the lord will bless you!

My companion and I are getting along very well!  I just love her! We work hard and we teach with unity and we are good friends. I feel like we are a great companionship!

Even though this week had its ups and downs, it’s the ups that I choose to focus on. I am so grateful for all of the miracles I have gotten to see this transfer and even this week!

I forgot to write about the two boys, our children investigators.  They are our sweet less active member’s nephews and they are amazing! One of the boys wants to get baptized so badly! He is so cute; he loves everything that he learns.  He comes to church and reads his book of Mormon every day.  He strives to keep the commitments and we gave him a CTR ring and he wears it every single day! His mom said he can be baptized next month so we are really excited for him! It’s so fun just to see how God prepares even his children; it is just amazing!

week 2 in feb

Hello you all!

This week was amazing so many miracles! Sister Hiatt and I have been so busy that we haven’t even had time to think! It’s been great!

We had a lot of stuff happen this week!  One of our new investigators has been taught the lessons for almost 11 years, but he has now decided that he wants to be baptized on the 15, this Saturday!!! So crazy that this is happening! So to get him prepared we are meeting with him every day and teaching him again! He has been smoke free for 19 days now his record and it has really been nice to see him change!

We have had some really good lessons with one of our other investigators.  It has been great she is so prepared it’s crazy.  She is still not sure about some of the commandments, but her son Lucca told her that next month when he turns 8 he wants to get baptized.   We are hoping and praying that that will help her make that next step.   We had dinner at her home a big step, she made us empanadas and she really opened up about some of the things that she is going through and we were able to get to know her way better than we already did.  It’s crazy to see what 5 months can do to someone spiritually as they continually learn about the gospel.

We had exchanges on Wednesday I went with Sister Randall. It was different.  She has a different teaching style.

We taught this less active Chelsea she is really cool, we taught her follow the prophet and it’s cool to see her faith growing stronger and stronger as she learns more and more.

We had dinner with the stake president and his two kids, they are less active and the daughter’s boyfriend, it was amazing!  We taught a little bit about the restoration and one of the less active boys bore his testimony about the feeling that the boyfriend has when he is in the family’s home.   It was amazing the spirit was so strong and I feel like we helped make an impression in the boyfriends mind.   He really wants to learn more, he is just waiting for his girlfriend the daughter to feel more into learning more about the church with him.
We taught J this week, he is changing so much and he came to church.  He is meeting with us regularly he is praying and changing his thinking and he is slowly coming out of his depression, I love seeing how the gospel is changing his heart every time we meet with him! The lord works in amazing ways!

This week the Hermana’s gave us a referral for a lady they found.  We tried to visit her and she was not home, but later in the day Sister Hiatt and I both felt like we should try back.  We did and we caught her, she is super nice but very lonely! She invited us in and we introduced ourselves and she told us her story, she is excited to learn more and believes that the book of Mormon is true! Already! It’s great I love all of the blessings!!

We taught a sweet lady and her kids, we taught them at a member’s home.   They were able to feel the spirit, we taught them the gospel of Jesus Christ and at the end, the nine year old bore her testimony about how she knows that this church is true and how she is so excited to be baptized and have this in her life.   She said that she Is grateful for us and that we can teach her and answer all of her questions, it looks like her mom and her are going to be baptized on the 23rd of this month. Her oldest daughter, does not feel ready so she has decided to wait, it is really hard to watch her mom not understand why she doesn't want this, at first the mom wanted to postpone but on Sunday she told us she still wants to be baptized with her younger daughter and she will keep praying that her oldest daughter will change her mind.

Sister Hiatt and I are getting along great, we are learning a lot from each other and its building me as a person and teaching me how to handle different thing it’s been great!

I love Agoura hills and I love California I love being here and serving the lord and meeting all of these awesome people that teach me so much, I’m grateful for the experiences I have had on my mission so far and I’m excited for more!

Its February

 Hello everyone!

This week was a great week!

On Tuesday we had the opportunity to teach one of our investigators, he was a do not contact for 6 months.  He told us Tuesday that he is ready to come home and be baptized!  He wants to take the fast track, he is ready now!   All he has to do is quit smoking; he has been Smoke free for 12 days now!!  This is the longest he has ever been able to go without a cigarette.  It’s amazing to see when people are truly ready to receive the gospel; they let it change their lives! He is such a great guy we are meeting him almost 4 times a week to get him baptized by the 15th.

We did service for this less active she is 19 and she is starting to come to church.  She is so funny and so is her sister, they had us over for dinner a few weeks ago and they are so nice! The oldest sister is also going to culinary school in august so we have a lot In common.  We teach her once a week and she just is, so cute.  I love teaching her and it’s a lot of fun watching someone’s faith strengthened!

So the two boys that we teach are so cute! They love the gospel so much, it’s hard to think that they are so young but so prepared!  We gave them all CTR rings (thanks Grandma) and they loved them! They like to wear the mother Mary bracelets and they asked if we had something different for them to wear, ( so mom, will you look for something?) they were so full of joy when we gave them those rings, it was so cute! I gave their aunt, who is a member, my CTR necklace and she absolutely loved it!  She is less active and she has really gotten into church with her nieces and nephews and it has been great to watch them change and her change to be way stronger in the gospel!

We taught a lady and her family and they have decided to be baptized all together on February 23!!! They are so cute, and so excited they want to get baptized as soon as possible. The daughter is a little bit more hesitant but she is getting there, we just need for her to get more involved in the lessons!  She will come around.  The LORD is in charge!

Its super difficult teaching kids but it’s a lot of fun too! You have to really teach to their understanding, so we do lots of activities and visual aids; it’s been a lot of fun to have this experience!

We had president interviews this week!  President Castro’s opening remarks were a lot about companion ship unity. Even though I think Sister Hiatt and I get along really well, I’m not always going to have a companion that I get along with super well. The white handbook is super helpful in these situations, I have thought about the white handbook in the wrong way my whole mission, it’s not just a rule book but a guide book, and it’s really cool! 

In my interview with President Castro told me that he does not know why heavenly father has chosen me to have two missions, but he does know that God knows what he’s doing.  He kept on saying he knows I did not choose this situation, but he knows that I chose to go on a mission and serve with all my heart, might, mind, and strength and that’s what he sees me doing! He said that I might be here to gain experiences as a missionary so when I get to Brazil, I can be the best missionary I can be! He said I will train down there and be able to teach missionaries how to be a true missionary because I have been trained here!  I love it here in California and I know I am here for a reason! I also have been really worried about the Portuguese  language  and he told me that if I study for an hour a day, when I get to brazil heavenly father will make it up to me.

It was a great interview and I truly love President Castro and the guidance he has given me this transfer!

We were visiting this man, who is super depressed, and we went to his apartment for a meeting and this member randomly pulled up and wanted to know who we were visiting in her neighborhood.  We told her and she got a shocked look on her face and looked at me and said “scary man?” She called the cops on him last week, she told us that he would never come to church and never change, and told us to be careful. Well he came to church on Sunday; he is starting to look and feel better!  This sister was shocked, she started to cry and apologized to us and it was great! Never underestimate the POWER OF THE LORD!

                

My studies have gotten so much better since my first transfer as a missionary; I have a new found love for the book of Mormon and the guidance it has given me in the past few weeks! I am loving my study of preach my gospel, and the Christ like attribute section and the teaching skills section, reading those sections has made me a better missionary and better person! 

If you are struggling with the decision to go on a mission take my word for it; It is the best the hardest and the most rocken thing I have ever done in my life!
