Hi All!!

This week was so good!

A little funny, but we taught some great lessons and had a blast!

First we got an appointment with one of our former investigators, well he said the only way he would meet with us if we went on a dog walk with him and we could teach him a lesson by doing that. Well we started to talk to him and talk more about the gospel asking him questions, and he proceeded to take us on a two and a half hour walk in the wilderness with his dog. That was a sight to be seen two Mormon missionaries in skirts and Sunday shoes hiking while sharing the restoration. This was one of those I can’t believe this is happening, only on my mission moments.

We also taught this man named J he has been an investigator for a while he loves the church he loves everyone he knows it’s true but doesn't want to do anything about it. So our lesson with him was just trying to figure out how best to help him. This was a really good lesson, and now we know how best to help him progress!!! I love how the spirit is a constant in this work!

This week we also had an amazing lesson with P our recent convert and his family we talked about the priesthood and how important it is to us in our life! It made me think of how grateful I am to have a worthy priesthood holder in my life! It made me realize how much I love my dad and how he has always had his priesthood accessible to me. We shared the Mormon message sanctify yourself and it was probably the most spiritual lesson that I have ever had the privilege to be a part of. I LOVE MY MISSION!!! I LIVE FOR THESE MOMENTS!!!

We did a lot of service for a less active member whose pipes burst and she had to clean her house before she could call the land lord. Her house was so gross that she would have been evicted if he saw it! So we helped her with that which made me think of how grateful I am for my mom who made me do my chores and kept a very clean house and taught me to do the same. We were able to help her out we did her laundry and her dishes and cleaned and sanitized everything, so now it is good for them to get the pipe fixed. (EWE that was one of those times you are glad there are two of you.)

This week I don’t know why but I have been just noticing many little things that I have had in my own life and in the mission life that I am super grateful for and I think it has defiantly brought me closer to Christ in that aspect.

This week in my book of Mormon reading I have been reading in 3 Nephi when Christ comes again. I am so grateful for this part! It’s amazing how much Christ loves the people in the book of Mormon that he blesses each one individually! It’s so amazing!

This week really cemented my testimony on the power of the priesthood and prayer! I am grateful every day for my life. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be living my life for Christ right now!

Love you all!!

Hi Everyone!!!

This week was so great!

First of all this week we had one of our investigators P get baptized!!! It was so great, Sister Cox and Sister Williams have been working with him and his family for a few months now he got baptized this Saturday! It was one of my most spiritual baptisms I have ever been a part of, the whole time it was just amazing! P was super prepared and ready and it was amazing, there are four sister missionaries in the ward and we got to sing during the time P was getting ready. We sang I know my father lives and Joseph’s first prayer to the tune of Come Thy Font, it was so amazing! I loved it and I loved that I got to see a whole family become complete in the form of the gospel! Amazing!

So this week we talked to a few of our investigators and got to know them but for the most part we tracted.

We met J, one of our investigators. He is going through a tough time and the only thing that he has found that has worked for him is being angry, so we are trying to help him out. He knows that this church is true but right know he doesn't want to stop his lifestyle, so we are working with him.

We met B also an investigator, he loves the book of Mormon with a passion but does not as yet want to give up smoking so we are working with him, trying to help him gain a testimony so it is easier for him to quit.

This week we did a lot of service, we did the most for one of the less actives that we teach C. She is going into surgery this week and she needed a lot of help to get her house ready to leave, it was a little nasty, but we got it clean so that after her surgery she won’t get an infection from living in her house.

This transfer one of our zone goals is to try to sing at the end of a lesson or beginning to bring in the spirit and oh boy has it worked! It’s amazing how a hymn can change the mood so fast and bring the subject back to Christ it is amazing.

That was our week it was Sister Williams birthday on Wednesday, she is such a trooper and SOOO amazing, she is rocking her second transfer in the field! (I am privileged to be her second trainer)

You all ROCK! Have a Great week! Write me if you have time!!!

Hi friends and family!

So this week I left my dear, dear Simi Valley…it was way sad but I know that the lord wants me here in Camarillo! The good news is that J was baptized this Friday and the work of the Lord will still go on no matter if I’m there or not!

So transfer meeting was so awesome, it was exactly what I needed. We first went to a training meeting because it is my first time training and I’m super excited it was perfect, it answered all my questions and I found out that I am officially the only visa waiter in the California Ventura mission, which means I’m awesome!!! I get to stay here longer!

So at transfer meeting, we got to listen to the testimonies of the missionaries going home and my dear friend went home this transfer Sister Stoker! I’m going to miss her way to much! Her testimony was amazing and I want to be able to say my testimony with as much confidence as she did! I love that we live with each other and we learn and grow from each other.

So this transfer we are splitting a ward in half so two sets of Sisters are there now and it’s so much fun. It’s a blast to be able to pretty much white wash and meet people! We get to explore the new areas and find new people to teach!!!!

We have a baptism this week a part member who has been taking the lessons for a while I’m super excited for him and his wife. His wife was less active but is coming back strong as ever and I love this family already, they have us over for dinner every Wednesday night and I’m looking forward to teaching them and getting to know them more!

We do a lot of tracting but heavenly father has given us a lot of strength and so it really is not very hard at all.
This week was my fist week follow up training and it went well. The training book is very informative plus Sister Williams is pretty much training me at this point, it’s so great! She is doing everything she has been taught is very Obedient and we are having a really good time working hard but enjoying it at the same time.
Even though we have four in our apartment our conversations stay very Christ like. This has been such a great week I love everything about this work and the people I get to meet!

Love you all!!!

Hi all

This was an awesome week! We had so much fun!

J, our 11 year old investigator has changed here baptismal date to this week on Friday! So crazy we had to run around and get everything going so that she would be able too! She passed her interview and her mom who is less active is so excited! She is so happy to see her child choose to be baptized it’s so cute. We taught the law of tithing and on Sunday she paid tithing it was so cute.

J and b are some of our investigators, we had a lesson with them on the word of wisdom at a member’s home and it went very well. We found out that he is a smoker but that he has been trying to quit and this is what he needed to hear to help keep him strong! I just love the word of GOD!

We taught L the word of wisdom and law of chastity and turns out she is already keeping both of them so she’s very excited! She came to the woman’s conference and loved every minute of it she really likes the social aspects of the church as well! The church programs are inspired!
We have been teaching M and he is still going strong! He came to church he loves the members and is just getting along great!

L and L are new investigators they are from the Philippines and they are so great! They are defiantly searching for the truth and they want to know which church they should join! They are so great!
This week have had done a lot of work in with less active members, we have found some really good ones that are ready to come back to church or at least meet with us on a regular basis.

We also met with D she has not seen missionaries in 8 years but she is going through stuff and is super lonely so this is the best time for us to come in help her out and teach the gospel!!!!

So this chapter on Simi valley is coming to a close I’m super sad about it, but Camarillo is going to be awesome I get to be a 2nd trainer for a new sister and open a new area it’s going to be a lot of fun I’m very excited. I have loved it here the ward is awesome the people are just coming out of the wood work and it’s been so great! I know that the lord wants me somewhere else even though I don’t want to leave! It’s all in the lord timing!

I’m getting my visa work taken care of and hopefully I will be in Brazil in the next two transfers I’m very excited to begin my 2nd half of my mission and super excited to be here at this time!

Missions are awesome!!

Hi all

This week was a really good week!

It started off with a lesson with M, he is so funny we taught him the Ten Commandments, he loves the movie the Ten Commandments so he was making references to that the whole time it was really quite funny. We have these cards that explain the Ten Commandments and every time he read them he was like, exactly! He just is so funny and is moving closer to his baptismal date he really does love the church and he is feeling like he belongs.

We set L our Jewish investigator with a date on Wednesday! We taught her about prophets and baptism and it took a little talking to but she agreed for July 5th! So that is exciting!
High priest night, on Wednesdays we go out with the high priest to visit their home teaching people, it is really fun and we got to visit with a few less active members and share something with them it is a really great program.

C is our new investigator, we found her knocking and she is super nice, she is going through a really hard time right now, she is looking for a church and she loves to talk about her problems, we are just getting to know her, we will teach the restoration to her this week it will be the best!

M we taught an awesome lesson to this week all about praying and reading the scriptures! He really makes the scriptures come to life and I love it! He was baptized a few years ago and is coming back to church with fire he loves it and calls us his sisters! It’s so cute!

So this week we get a call from our ward mission leader and he says that he has two people for us to teach! One has already read the book of Mormon and wants to get baptized it was awesome!
They came to church, 9 investigators to be exact and they all loved coming to church and the ward is just so awesome, we don’t have to worry about them because they just take out investigators under their wings and lead them to where they need to go.

J and B we set with a date! J is so cute and when we first started the lesson he said I think I’m ready to get baptized! He is so cute! He is 70 and just found out he has cancer; he is going through it very well.
J lesson we had an awesome lesson with her and we invited two member girls to come with us they cracked us up, of course we started with the law of chastity so that was an awesome subject to talk to an 11 year old about and then the word of wisdom.

It was such a good week, so much fun stuff happened! I got to talk to my family and it was amazing! I miss them so much and don’t realize it until I’m talking to them and hearing their voices then it hits! I do love my mission and I’m having a blast here in California!!!

Funny moment this week
I had to use the bathroom so bad so I had to ask a stranger if I could use their bathroom as we first were meeting her.... that was really awkward, but when you got to go you got to go, my parents know all about this!!!!

We were teaching a less active, his son was outside with a huge white rope exercising right outside the window without a shirt ... a little distracting…

We met a free mason, still have no idea what that means but he told us all about it and it left me with a bit of an icky feeling.

We were talking to this lady and she told us that she knows the truth about god the mother, that’s right, she believes in one god the mother, at least she believes in something.

Well that was my week love you all

Hi All

This week was a really good week!

I love to see how normal it is now to be a missionary and to talk to everyone its really great!

I really do love Simi Valley, it gets super-hot! It’s so nice, the people here are great, the ward is so great, all they want to do is help and it’s just so awesome!

So this week we met with a former Member. She had not been seen by missionaries in 8 years, but first started going to church in Agoura (my last area)! She is really good friends with one of the less actives in Agoura, I know her very well. It’s so interesting how the Lord works things out. First she let us in and unloaded all her issues that she has with the church. We found out she went to church for a whole year, when she was told about the temple it turned her off and she never came back. After she told us everything she hated she told us that we had answered her prayers! CRAZY! She is going through a lot of surgeries and stuff and she is very lonely. She wants to know if god still loves her! She took us as her sign that he does love her! She wants us to come back and visit so that’s good!

We taught one of our investigators the law of chastity and word of wisdom lesson and at first I was a little scared but it turned out really great! He loved it! He learned that he had to quit a few things. He was so open and it really was a really great lesson! He is on the road to being baptized on June 14! So it’s going to be great!!!! He is such a funny guy and he loves when we bring members, he comes to the 4th ward and our ward so he comes to 4 1/2 hours of church. He really is funny and we found him tracting even better! He also told us his healthy diet, a bowl of cereal for breakfast and two microwave burritos for lunch and whatever for dinner! He told us, yeah I’m already following the word of wisdom.

We taught one of our investigators the ten commandments it turned out really well she is so smart she basically taught the whole lesson, she goes to a Christian school so she knows all the basics, her mom the less active is getting into the church again and is loving it!

We taught a sweet couple, he is having a really hard time; he is in his 70s and found out that he has cancer. They caught it early so he hopes to be healed soon. He loves learning about the plan of salvation, it was really good. We invited them to baptized but they are still not sure yet.

We had a Young Woman’s and Young Man’s fundraiser at the church and four of our investigators came! It was so much fun it was book of Mormon themed so it was great for our investigators. They got to meet so many members and got to see what the youth of the church too! We got to eat with our hands and the youth did a little skit and it was just supper good and fun! Me and Sister Mason got to help with the food! I got to cut chickens in half and it was fun to use my culinary skills again even just for a little while!

We visited a less active member, he is just so funny!!! He is a veteran, we asked him if he had any kids and he said that he might have a few 1/2 oriental kids running around that he doesn't know about, he also says that Alma is his main man! I looovvveeee Him he makes my week so much better! He always makes me smile!!!

We had a lot of investigators at church and the members just swooped in and took them to their classes. The couple we are teaching came to church; he was so excited he loved church! As he said good bye he went in for a hug before I could even stop it! Yeah he is 70, it was my first man hug in 9 months:)
So as we were tracting we ran into some very interesting characters...this happened two different times but as we knocked the person answered happens to be Asian and can speak English and they just laugh at us awkwardly until we give them a card and leave. It is super funny!

We also found out that one of our members, who is a convert, his mom was a nun and after she left the convent she had 17 children… I was rolling! It was supper funny and so unexpected!

That was my week! Love you all

Hi ALL!!!
This week was really good!!!!

We had a really good lesson with our investigator, we taught him the gospel of Jesus Christ and he just loves it!   He came to church and is progressing; he loves everything about the church and knows the Book of Mormon is true!   He is not a big talker, he talks in two word sentences, but he is really starting to open up and get comfortable with us.  We have been taking returned missionaries from the ward with us and it has been going very well.

Sister P’s son is getting married so we did service for her for a few hours.  It was kind of fun we got to steam stuff for her I included some pictures. Her member son has been out of town and she had in the past only been reading and praying with him.   We asked and she is doing it by herself!! We asked if once he goes to college if she still wants to learn…she said yes!!!   It was the best ever!!  She has changed so much.  I know that service and help really softens the hearts of people it’s so great!

I Love to see the Temple, I’ll go inside one day.
I got to go to the temple this week it was amazing! I got answers to all my questions and it was just amazing we had a recently reactivated member take us and it was so good! We loved it and it was a perfect end to my birthday.  Pictures included of that day too.

Tracting, Tracting and more Tracting!  We have been tracting a lot.  We are trying to find new people to teach, and it has gotten better, i don’t mind it anymore.   Yes its awkward but it’s what we do and I love sharing the gospel now, its super amazing!

Following Elder Nielsons council this week we have been visiting prospective elders, it has not been fun or easy but we will keep plugging along. I know God will bless us as we move this work forward.  We all need to remember that the council we have been given might be hard and it might be something that is super uncomfortable but it has been given to us by the Lord and we need to follow through.

We taught J the commandment of prayer and scripture study.   We watched the restoration with her, it went so good! She loves learning about the gospel! We are going to move up her date for baptism closer! Her mom, who is less active, is working on reactivating her whole family.

Church was awesome!  We had three people at church this week and they all loved it!

The woman with the Jewish background came and she loved every minute of it, it was great!!! She said she likes it way better than the hubat!

This week has been awesome!  I have loved every minute this week!

We got to hike to the Cross for Pday!!! It was so fun!! I love the Elders and Sisters in Simi Valley

Love Mady

Just for fun

Hi all!

This week was great!

On Monday we had a birthday celebration with a part member family that we are teaching. They made me wear a cowboy hat while I ate.  We taught them the plan of salvation, a perfect way to start off my birthday.  The little daughter that we are teaching is so excited to be baptized she can barely stand it.  In fact on Friday when we had a lesson with her and her mom, she had one of her friends come and learn more, now her friend wants to get baptized!! They are so cute!  Kids that age, (11) have so much questions, they saw a movie about heaven. I am not sure what it’s called but they had so many questions.   The child we had been teaching was like yeah I know all about that, the sisters taught me last time :) so cute!

On my birthday we had lunch with our investigator and her returned missionary son, it was so fun she made breakfast for us, we taught the Ten Commandments and because her son went to Portugal they made a Portuguese tart for dessert!! It was a lot of fun and she is making a lot of progress, a lot.

On Wednesday we had exchanges, two days before I caught a nasty bug and could not keep in any food, both ways, and so we stayed in, but we did not waist any of our time, me and sister Hegstrom, we redid our area book.  I called all of our investigators and set up a bunch of appointments, it was fun and we hope that it will help our work. We had an awesome lesson with a investigator who has a lot of problems with the church, but his wife wants to know more, it going very good and we invited them to take the lessons and its going very well.

Thursday we had zone conference and it was all about getting ready for Elder Neilson! Our mission is so excited.   We are preparing!

On Saturday was the big day!
Elder Neilson was amazing! We got to hear testimonies from President Castro, Sister Castro, Elder Garns and Sister Garns.  It was so spiritual, then we heard from Sister Bowen it was so awesome and she told us so many great things, Elder Bowen set down the law on being obedient, he told us to follow every rule and to talk to everyone and do not drag anyone down.   That really hit me because sometime I feel like we shut down things before we even see if that might work.   We heard from Sister Nielson and she talked about how the people that are learning about the gospel right now, their ancestors have all accepted the gospel and they are pushing us  and them to learn more so they can get the work done.

Elder Neilson spoke to us and reminded us of why we were here, and who we are here for.  He is so full of the spirit it drips off of him.  He LOVES the lord and loves this work!

We then had a question and answer with him, and it was amazing, he was able to quote scriptures and said the right things that answered my questions! The church is true, and Elder Nieson is so cool! We all got to shake his hand is that was one of the best parts!!!

On Sunday Sister Mason and I, set up a game plan on how to best work in our area and follow elder Nielsons instructions, it was really fun and we have such a bigger drive to do missionary work!

After church on Sunday we had an awesome lesson with one of our investigators he still is excited to be baptized we just need to get him to the church!

That was my awesome week!!!
Tell me about yours!

Love you all

Hi Everyone!

This week has been a really good week out here in Simi Valley! It’s been a blast!

We set two people up with baptismal dates. We have a lot of lessons this week; things are starting to look up! It’s been really nice to start fresh and re-focus this transfer.  It’s super nice to see our hard work coming to fruition, I love it.  You don’t know how excited I am to be able to see Elder Russell M. Nelson talk with us at the end of the week on Saturday! It’s going to be awesome!

So on to talking about this last week!

Transfers were super awesome, we had one of our investigators drive us to it, and she stayed for the whole time.  It was really good for us, she was raised in the church but when she was in her 20 she got her records removed.  Now 30 years later the Sister missionaries are teaching her again!! It’s so great, she loves the lessons. The meeting was really good, it always inspires me to be a way better missionary and to do better.

Sister Mason, is awesome it’s so fun that we get to work together again!  She is so cool and laid back and we are getting a lot of stuff done.  She is such a hard worker and a lot of fun to be around.

We got to meet with a sweet sister twice this week and do service with her! At the end of our lesson she said the prayer!!! The first time she has done that since we have been meeting it was amazing we were grinning for ages after that!

A new man we are teaching is super funny and is starting to really love the gospel and wants to be baptized!  The best part of it is we found him tracting! I love when that happens.

We met with our Jewish investigator once this week.  She is progressing but she is still very Jewish and feels like she is betraying that culture, but she still wants to learn she just is going slowly.

We have a less active sister and she asked us to teach her daughter who is 11 and wants to get baptized so badly! We had an awesome lesson with her and her mom and it was so good.

Two of our investigators came to church! They had an awesome time, and felt like this is where they are going to be! So excited for them!

It’s been a great week I have loved it!

Thank you for all the birthday wishes!  Love you all

April 7th 2014

Hi all!
So this week was super good and very productive!

Transfer update I’m staying in Simi Valley and my new companion is Sister Mason, we were in the same apartment my first transfer so we know about each other and it’s going to be awesome.
This transfer has been super crazy but good! Really good so many ups and downs the lord is defiantly molding me into who he wants me to be and who he knows I can be!

On Tuesday we taught the sister who has the retuned missionary son.   It was so good!  We read with her in first Nephi and the spirit was so strong!   It is so cool, that as you use the book of Mormon it just invites a spirit that I cannot describe, it is amazing and I think she felt it a lot that time as well.

We were able to teach another lady about the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She is Jewish and very firm that she always wants to stay Jewish even if she does convert to the LDS faith.  She loves the idea of the Holy Ghost.   I find that that is the case a lot of the time with the people that I teach, once they find out about the Holy Ghost they want it so bad!  It’s so cool!  I love that with this gift lives change!

We found a new investigator, we were able to teach him the restoration on the doorstep and he loved every minute of it!  We got a return appointment and he is really excited to learn more. He loves movies he was telling us that his favorite movie is the Ten Commandments.  We have decided to use a lot of videos as we teach to kind of illustrate our point. I can’t wait; it will be so fun to teach differently.  His enthusiasm is so catching.

We decided to do this thing of planning to knock two hours of each day.  The cool thing is we are always teaching lessons as we knock, people are truly interested in what we have to say which is super cool and makes it easier to go out and knock hour after hour, day after day!

Conference was so freaken awesome!  I felt like President Dieter F. Uchtdorfs was talking right to me! I have been working on the things he was talking about and it just kind of confirmed everything I have been feeling!  I love Elder Holland’s talk! I’d like to think that I would be as courageous as those sister missionaries but I don’t think I could of done what they did, they are truly amazing! Defend your faith, defend it!

We taught a really good lesson with our investigating couple, they are so sweet!   It’s crazy how the lessons that we spend reading the Book of Mormon are the most powerful! It was amazing and then they came to the last session of conference on Sunday and it confirmed all the feelings they were having they loved it! They are just amazing!
We taught another really awesome lesson to one of our investigators. The lesson was the gospel of Jesus Christ, so good! She loved the simple steps of following the gospel and its going to be really good, as we continue to teach her!

I am so glad for such a good week !!!!

I hope you all enjoyed conference! I truly want to hear what you all are studying in preach my gospel!

This week I am studying teaching skills! I am really paying attention asking questions!!!! Please write and tell me!

I love you all and hope your having a great week!

Hi everyone!

This week was a really good week!
Sister Stocker and I have gotten the hang of working together; we know how to work off each other and how to motivate one another which has been a really big strength for us as a companionship.

This week we taught a lot of lessons, we taught a returned missionary’s mom the lessons twice this week.  I was really shocked to hear that she has never really thought about any of the plan of salvation, which growing up in the church was really interesting for me because that’s what I know! I have grown up with that knowledge, she says it’s a good thought; we just have to keep working with her.

So we were taking a break and I was in the bathroom, I leaned over to grab my scripture case which was already deteriorating and as I picked it up it bit the dust!  YES!! My triple almost landed in the toilet.  It’s a good thing I have fast reflexes…yah right I was just super lucky.  I caught it and now I am case less.

We went on exchanges this week, another one; it has been a very weird transfer. Both me and sister Moure, who lives in the same apartment that I do, we both don’t drive, so in the morning it was so fun, we walked to appointments and tried to talk to people on the street, one of our investigators wanted to take us to lunch, we had an amazing lesson with her at the restaurant. The spirit was so strong and we were able to use the Book of Mormon to answer any questions that she had, it was really neat.  We met up with a future missionary she leaves at the end of April, but we became a tripan so we could drive places!  We went and taught a new investigator, he is in his 80s, he’s catholic, we have to shout the lessons to him, but he loves them, he came to church this week as well! It’s amazing you are never too old for the gospel!

While we were trackting we thought we knew where we were going, but alas we didn’t we got so lost that we ended up walking 5 miles instead of two blocks!! It’s all good!

We went to the women’s conference and it was amazing! It was exactly what I needed to hear!  We really need to be a covenant keeping woman and be nice and love everyone!

This week I got to meet the bass player for Panic! At the Disco.    Dallon Weekes he was cool.  I thought some of you might like to hear who I am meeting out here in Simi Valley.

Sister Stoker and I gave a talk in sacrament meeting.  My talk was on compassion and service, it was amazing to study for that and have the opportunity to share my testimony with the members!
We had a really good lesson with our new investigators! They were waiting for us with notebooks and all of the reading material that we have given them, we taught the restoration and they had some really good question and comments, and it was really good to be able to share this wonderful message with them!

This week has been amazing!
I hope you all are doing well!

March 24

Hi All!!!!!

So this week was a learning experience and really good! I love these kinds of weeks, they make me grow and stretch so much!

On Monday we had the opportunity to teach a returned missionaries mother.  He had just gotten home from his mission on Sunday and wasted no time in starting his mom off with the missionaries! Guess what?  He served his mission in Portugal so he knows Portuguese!  It’s so awesome!
She is really, really prepared, watching her son go on a mission has been a really good thing for her. It was a lot of fun to be able to teach her and invite her to take the lessons and learn more about the church.  She is going to start lessons.

We have had some amazing lessons this week with our investigators, it has been so good.  I am starting to feel more comfortable in this area so the work is getting a lot better.  We have had many adventures trying to get to people who live inside these big ominous gates.  It’s been great to see how the lord blesses his missionaries.

On Tuesday, we were able to get into every gate that we went to, to see the people that we were trying to see it was so great! Can you believe because of the gates opening we were able to find a new investigator and we have had two great lessons!  I love miracles!

Me and sister stoker have started this new thing, we talk about different ways we have seen the lords hand in our life. We watch throughout the day and talk about them as they happen. It has really been so good for me! The lord has blessed us so much and it’s just super great!

Zone Conference was on Thursday. It was the best one I have been to! I loved how it was all about the Book of Mormon and how people find their faith in the church.  They talked about how the Book of Mormon is our main tool for all that we do!

I have always known that the Book of Mormon was important, but it always has been in my life.  I always had it, so I think I have always just taken it for granted. The Book of Mormon is the way to help people come unto Christ and join the church; they will get closer to Christ as they read it. I know this because I have witnessed this in my own life.

So Zone Conference was so good for me! I wrote down a lot of questions that I had that I wanted to have answered during the conference.  They all were answered; it was the coolest thing ever!

This week has built my testimony so much of how I know that the lord watches over all of us and he is always there.
I feel like I’m not progressing in my language at all! This week was a little hard for me with the fact that I know that it’s not my fault but it still feels like I should know more, I mean I’m almost halfway through and I’m not confident at all!  Another thing happened, at Zone Conference they said if you have faith and you want to have a scripture that will help and apply to you or to the person you are teaching, all you need to do is open to a random page in the Book of Mormon and he shall direct us.

So I did it and it worked!  I read section 88 in the D&C and it addressed everything I was going through at this time, it was so good!

Sister Stoker and I are getting along so good! Even after everything that we have gone through these past two weeks, it’s great! She is so good at missionary work and working hard and she has a way with our investigators, even though we are white washing our area pretty much now, we really don’t know anything, so it’s been a learning experience for both of us!

So Elder Neilson is coming to the mission for a conference right after my birthday! How cool is that!?!?  I’m super excited for it! I know it’s just going to be amazing and fun and great and I’m super excited! It’s going to be a good transfer!

I also get to go to the Temple for my Birthday!!! Can’t wait!!

Hope all of your weeks are great! Love you all!

Green Week

Hi Everyone-

So this week was definitely a change!!!

My companion Sister Jackson went home on Wednesday. She had been out for three months; it had been a tough transfer. She had been having a tough time even before I became her companion. We both knew it was time for her to go home.

I was moved to Simi Valley California kind of a little bit of a culture shock but I’m getting used to it.  The ward is very nice and it’s the first time in a long time that the Simi stake has had sisters it has been for so long just elders…they just love sisters!
So I have a new companion she is awesome she has helped me with a lot of things this week, and we have been able to do the work!

The lord is helping me feel love for the people I’m serving and for our investigators and members, it’s been really great! We have some really good investigators and have had some really good time because Sister Stoker and I have been pretty much white washing the area!  It’s been a really good and a kind of new experience for all of us.

I went on exchanges and they went really good, I was with Sister Bartchi. She was able to help me through some of the things I was going through and we just had a lot of fun doing the work it was really great.   We worked hard spoke in Spanish and Portuguese and saw a lot of miracles.

Being with the Hermanas has been really nice for my language, yes it’s a little different but it has also been super good, they know some of the rules that I don’t know so it’s been great to ask questions and speak Portuguese with them.

I’m glad that all of these changes are happening and I’m learning from all of them, it’s been a hard two weeks but I’m grateful for Sister Stoker my companion. I’m grateful for this change in my mission it was much needed. I’m grateful that I always have the option to go to my heavenly father, he is the best source of comfort and information, and then my companion. I’m grateful that I’m learning this now half way through my mission, it’s been really good, and I know that I’m starting to heal because I can look back and see the changes that heavenly father wanted me to make.

I know that the lord gives us challenges to help us grow and looking back I’m so glad that I was able to have this challenge because it has strengthened my testimony and I love what it has helped me accomplish!

Second Week of March

Hello Everybody!

Tuesday was my companion’s birthday so…Tuesday we went to the temple! It was amazing! The Los Angeles temple was truly a sight! It was so cool inside.  I love the spirit found in Temples.  I thought it was fun to think that I was in the Temple my Smith Grandparents were married in, it was a fun thought.  I had an amazing time! We had some great members who told us the whole history of the LA temple and how it was made.   It was really a good experience for my companion and me!

The LA Temple grounds are so pretty and peaceful; we walked around for a while. When you enter into the temple you can’t hear anything! It’s amazing it’s completely like you’re going into a different world! I LOVED it, what a fun and needed experience!!!

We had an amazing lesson with our new investigator. She is a down on her luck opera singer and she is golden! She was referred to us from the zone leaders.  She is living in section 8 housing and she is amazing! She is ready to hear the gospel and she loves it, she came to see the baptism of the two little girls I taught in Agoura hills and loved it.   She also came to church and loved every minute of it! I just love how the lord puts us in people’s paths that are truly ready to hear the gospel.

We had an amazing exchange! I was with sister Hegstrom and we all stayed in our area working it.  It was really great! We taught some awesome lessons and picked up a former investigator who is also amazing! Sister Hegstrom was able to help me with a lot of things I was struggling with and for that I am super grateful! We were able to teach I really good lesson to three boys that are all 17 that live together! They are really sweet and really enjoy hearing the gospel and learning as a group, its defiantly different teaching teenage boys but defiantly fun!

This week has definitely strengthened my testimony! I am so glad for weeks like this!

March

Hi Everyone!

This week was a bit of a struggle leaving an area that I have been in for 6 months and starting all new. I have a new companion, new apartment, and new everything.
It has been a struggle but this next week will be good.  I am getting to know new people, and getting in the swing of things.  Transfers are no joke!

Our mission leader in the Westlake ward is super awesome.   He does his job very well and he just loves missionary work, it’s very nice to see that kind of spirit.

This week I got to meet some amazing recent converts! Their stories have helped me so much, each one of them took a long time to join the church.  Each of them are now, in part member families, that’s the amazing thing of having influence! I love that they are being an example! It’s great I loved getting to know them and spending time with them.

Church was very awesome everyone is so welcoming and friendly it’s been great!  They so want to help with missionary work so that will be great. There are two sets of missionaries in the Westlake ward so that’s a little different but great!

I’m looking forward to learning more and growing so much in this new area it will be great!

So if you can’t tell this has been a hard week, I am trying not to be discouraged.  The Lord is in charge and he wants me here.  I love you all please keep me in your prayers.

I would love some letters!
Love you all

HI all!!!!

This week was a really good, we both worked hard and we found a lot of success this week!

We were able to meet with our new investigator, she is a dancer and an artist and she believes everything that we say, she says that she feels the spirit when we talk to her about the restoration.  She was able to come to a baptism with us, and then to church! It was so great! She is really lonely. Her husband passed away a few years ago and she recently lost her house, this is the perfect time for her to accept the gospel!

We taught the kids the Word of Wisdom lesson, it was all going good until we found out that that the 11 year old is a big coffee drinker, that was a big shock to us!  I guess that he has severe lung issues and coffee helps him breath.  He said that he will stop, he wants to follow ALL the commandments.

We met with our committed investigator almost every day to prepare her for baptism. It was really great! She was so excited, she passed the baptismal interview and she bore us her testimony after! It has been truly amazing to watch her progress in just 6 weeks she is truly the elect and I’m so grateful that I got to see it before I left.  Her baptismal service was super spiritual! My favorite part was getting a big wet hug right after she was baptized!   It was amazing!  She was so happy she could barely contain it! I had the opportunity to bare my testimony and feel the spirit so strongly! BEST MOMENT OF MY MISSION SO FAR, THE LORD IS SO GOOD!

This week we were able to connect with a less active family that we have been trying to connect for the whole transfer. They finally let us in! It turns out that the father wants his 7 year old daughter to take the lessons! They are the cutest family in the whole universe!!!  The dad is such a good dad even though he is not interested at all in coming back to church he supports his children, its great!

Well this chapter on Agoura hills is closed! It has been a really good 6 months!!! I have seen so many miracles, I have seen people get baptized and I have watched an area completely change!!!! I’m going to miss this place a lot…but the lord wants me to work in Westlake so that, I will do! I’m going to miss Sister Hiatt, we got along super well and did extremely good work!!!

I can’t believe I am almost to my ½ way mark, it scares me to death! It’s been a blast here in Agoura Hills!!!

I will miss the people, but it’s time for me to go 

Love you all Sister Proctor
